Located on the North coast of Cornwall, Watergate Bay Hotel is perfectly placed to make the most of Cornwall. Newquay is a short drive along the coastline as well as Fistral bay.

As you approach the peak of the surrounding hills/cliffs and just before you descend down into Watergate Bay the hotel itself blends in with the environment. It is a low-rise structure; partially build into the cliff side. The front entrance and new spa area were redeveloped by Stride Treglown in 2013 winning a RICS South West and Wales Tourism and Leisure Award https://stridetreglown.com/projects/watergate-bay-hotel-newquay/

The front entrance is inviting with an inevitable beach/surf vibe. This is achieved using white timber cladding combined with timber decking. The exterior also consists of a vast amount of glazing ensuring the beautiful views of Watergate Bay are not missed. This glazing reflects the surround cliffs/hills and perhaps one of the main reasons the hotel appears to blend in so well.

The interior of the Watergate Bay Hotel has been designed to be relaxing and inviting whilst making the most of the views. There are a number of different areas including the lower spa coffee shop, upper floor restaurants and decking areas. Each follows the same theme of chic and chilled with light coloured furniture and cosy seating. Stripes and bright colours have been used to add another dimension and make each space interesting in its own right.

The hotel rooms are light and airy and replicate the minimalistic beach theme. Roll tops baths in the window of some rooms are the real feature for many. The hotel was built around being family friendly and understanding its location on a beach. Beach Chic open to all!

The Watergate Bay Hotel has understood its location and visitors in designing both the exterior and interior. Chilled beach vibes throughout ensures a relaxed stay is all but guaranteed. The views onto the bay below have also been highly valued with large areas of glazing.

An all around great design showing a unique understanding of the area.
